TO MANY PINKIES HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

peach749 Mar 04, 2006 10:35 PM

hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone here has ever breed there own mice for there breadies and snakes. I just started this year and it has been going great. I was wondering what is the best way to end the life of the pinkies. someone said co 2 is the nicest way and then I read where you just throw them in the freezer. that option does sound a little curl. I have a pet store that said he would buy all my extra and I also supply a few friends with there needs. but the demand is going to have me to end up selling them frozen and I was wondering what's the best way to go about doing this. I already have a vacuum machine that makes bags air tight. I'm just wondering what's the easiest and best way to go about ending there life. if anyone breeds there own please feel to give me any advice you have.
thanks peach.

Anything larger than a pinkie we CO2 first but pinkies we just lay out on a cookie sheet and freeze. Freeze hard (24 hours) and then vacume pack them while frozen.

the problem with pinkies is that they are really hard to put down using CO2. Pinkies are designed to be resistant to suffercation, as they tend to always be buried under their litter mates and mother. Thus, it takes a long time in a CO2 tank to kill them. Freezing on a cookie sheet is pretty much the quickest and best way to deal with pinkies.
