It's Goini time:

BlueKing Mar 04, 2006 11:12 PM

After all the Eastern pics I have posted I thought I'd mix it up a bit and post some different subspecies: Just brought these in a few days ago: (I only have these two adults, lol): This F-1 03' Krysko female (in first pic) and a wildcaught male (second pic). Hopefully these two will like each other! (I do have two other females, but they are still too young to breed.) Thanks for peekin'

Nice snake (in the pic). Isn't that one of those that had really red bands as a baby (that you got from the guy in Las Vegas?)

Thanks

No not from Vegas, she is a geniuine pure L.Lemke line blotched/banded phase"goini" from Isis Reptiles, Ventura, Calif.
Here she is again, we can see why some consider the Lowland king in it's banded/striped/blotched/patternless forms to be just a mere variation of L.g.getula.

BlueKing Mar 05, 2006 10:56 PM

Thanks, I knew you had some of those red babies, but it wasn't THAT one, LOL!
And who knows getula-goini ??? It's all good to me . . . After all, look at the Thayeris!

I never knew you were so reasonable, You're alright for a snake lover, lol!

They are stunning Zee. Should produce some superb Goini.
How's that florid king (female) doing for you? The one you picked up at the Raleigh show that ended up being a gravid female? Put some updated pics of her when you get the chance.

Sorry, but I don't have her (the female brooksi) anymore. I ended up trading her for a female Eastern King here in town. I was a little short on breeder females last year. Now I wish I would have kept her, as I have plenty of breeder (eastern) females this year!

Forgot to mention: I still have my two giant (5.5 foot) brooksi males here. Might have to get me another female, but don't know if I have the room to do it with all those Easterns in my house, LOL!

He is still kickin' but I may have to find an alternate food source to scent with. He has taken only 6 meals since June, but they were large meals. He snubbs half the food items. Looks like I'll be looking for some lizards and Kangaroo rats this outing. Maybe some of those smaller mice we saw on the cuts. I need to bring some live mouse traps. Maybe a bat or two...HMMMMM!!!???

He sure is a beauty!!! Can't wait to see him in person!!! You know, sometimes the picky feeders just need a little more heat in their cage to get them going (aprox 86-88 dgrees during the day)

Remember, he's a night timer as well! He hasn't lost any muscle tone or weight, just doesn't eat much. I bet he clears a nest when he finds 'em! And I'm gonna try some baby quail.

GO get them little birds under the overpasses - There's plenty of them, they're easy to catch/grab and I bet he'll go for those and even some of the older chicks that you'll find in those abundant nests!

You KNOW I KNOW that's right! LOL! You and I see eye to eye on lots of things. Are you going to the sand hills soon? What's going on in Richmond? E-mail me. I need an excuse to visit my daughter there!

Wish I could find a female for my appalachicola - these pics don't do him justice; I have to play a little more with the file sizes and camera settings. I couldn't upload the originals (which were great!!) because they were too big. Enjoy

BlueKing Mar 06, 2006 11:19 PM

That's a nice one there! Is it a Wild caught? I do have two more females - but they're not old enough yet . . . Here's a pic of my other females:

No he was purchased when he was ~ 1-2 months old. I don't think the guy I purchased him from was the breeder. I don't know how he got him - but I don't think he was aware of what he had or its potential as I picked him up for $20!!!!
