You lucky boogerface brevs!

WillHayward Mar 05, 2006 01:24 AM

As I promised in the thread below, here are photos of the new terrarium for my Bearded Pygmy Chameleons (Rhampholeon brevicaudatus). It's yet to be completed, but its 90% finished and furnished. Some air plants, dried bamboo and some stick highways will go in tomorrow.

Should have taken the junk on the floor away to take a nicer photo. Oh well, tomorrow I'll take it again.

Now... its pretty quiet in this larger cage than I had before. A few more females should liven it up. What kind of paperwork is involved with these to get them into Canada? The selection is scarce here at the moment. Havent seen them at our by monthly Expo since September- and they weren't even for sale.

You do fantastic work. Your beautiful tank put my basic effort to shame! They are very cute little critters and my family enjoys our pair immensely (especially hunting them down as they "hide" in plain view). I hope you are able to get some in soon. Diane

Thank you Diane. This was actually my first time building one with Roo's instructions (Which have proven incredible so far). I bought ALL the hydroton (Hydrocorn or clay balls) in this city and I had to buy clay pots and spend 30 minutes smashing them as small as possible to use as the bottom layer of the drainage system.

Anyways, females still needed and if all goes well with this one, I'll be looking for more 65gallon tanks, because they sure beat the 10 gallon ones I currently have. And they sure can hold quite a few females for the males to... enjoy.

Here are some photos.

As you can see here 7" substrate at lowest point.

Very nice! We really enjoy our little pigs! With the set-up I have, I'll NEVER find any eggs so I'll have to hope for successful in situ hatching. I have an ultrasonic humidifier that comes on for 15 minutes twice daily in my 20 gallon tank. Fills it with very light mist. I spray warm water on everything a.m. and p.m. and have a 25 watt bulb on them during daylight hours. My house is 67F and on the last warm day we had I noticed that they moved away from the light during the afternoon when the temp got to 80F under the incandescent light. I imagine I will only use the light for an hour or 2 in the a.m. during the summer. I'd love to see some of yours if you can get some shots. Diane

That looks awesome! When you put some sticks in like you said then it would be done I think. Very nice though. I dont have the slightest idea what it takes to ship brevs to Canada. I would consider doing it though.

Cash is tight now, but I can see myself having enough in maximum 2 months. Everything that comes into Canada and the pet stores is WC and there are few breeders. The prices are usually about $50-80 CDN. Thats about $45-70 USD. On the KS classifieds, I see them at $12-17 USD... Quite the difference.

If you are willing to, I'd love to have some from you. Maybe you have some friends that could tell you what is needed? Anyways, I'm having trouble with my 'reptile' email address... so you can contact me through willhayward@exiledphotography.com

Will, your little guy is very colorful. That was a great shot with the hosta leaves as a background also. Threw some nice green-blue highlights over him. My pair saw your new tank and they had their bags packed when I got home and said they were heading NORTH. Ungrateful little brevs! Diane

Haha, SURE! this tank would fit a couple males if I put in some more foliage.

Thank you.
