Heat Pad Safety

kiknskreem Mar 05, 2006 10:56 AM

I have a tank measuring 32Lx11Wx14H. It has a hinged plexi-glass door that has started to warp because of the heat created by the bulb inside the tank (protected by a bulb guard). I have a human heat pad I would like to place inside this cage, what material can I attatch the pad to, I was thinking a ceramic tile or piece of plywood... what would be a safe way to join these two together?

Actually you need to stop using the human heating pad as they are not made for continious use. You could go with a Cobra UTH and that can be used inside of the cage. All you UTH's no matter what frm will need a thermostat to be used safley.. Hope this helps,

I agree with MG. I knew a pet shop that used human heat pads on all their herp cages. I thought it was a great idea, easy and cheap.

So I started using a couple myself. Then I went to the pet shop one day to find out that their herp room had burned up!!!

Needless to say I went home and removed my human heating pads!LOL!

Not worth the risk.
