ucsda Jul 27, 2003 09:04 PM

In this river there's Miss. Maps, river cooters, musk and snappers, then there's another turtle, which is a slider i come across more than any other animal i look for, it's not a red ear, if you're familiar with this river tell me what all turtles live in it. Thanks.

Hey, I'm from Tennessee. There are like you said Maps, Cooters, Musk and Snappers. The slider you are talking about is a Cumberland Slider. They're like red ears but the only difference is that the head has yellow or orange stripes instead of red. There are also softshells there to.

Is there a chance that there could be a mix-breed of yellow bellys and cumberlands in that area?

SlipKorn Jul 28, 2003 05:50 PM

Yea, as far as I know all sliders can breed with each other. Sometimes you can't tell what they are a mix of though.

If you need to know anything else about Tennessee turtles be free to ask.

Depends where in Tennessee. If in South east corner maybe. If in Western tennessee, you get the Res. Only the eastern portion of tennessee has cumberlands.

The are cumberland Sliders. Like a red-eared slider but with a yellow ear and less black smuges on the plastrom.
