Inducing Defecation

kiknskreem Mar 05, 2006 11:38 AM

My ball has succesfully eaten two rats in a row (a first), and is looking very full. I keep him on repti-bark which is a pain to keep clean, does anyone know of any good methods of inducing a snake to defecate? I just gave him a 15 minute soak (he ate a rat about 9 and 2 days ago)but nothing yet.

Time, and time alone. Two rats is NOTHING without a poo. There is no need to even consider inducing a poo, he'll poo when he needs to. Don't stress the small stuff.

Nice cage did you make it your self? Can we see moor pic's of it.
And yes I would not stress over the poo thing.

I'm no where near a pro when it comes to ball husbandry, but when I had one a few years ago I would give him a swim in the bathtub in some slightly warm water usually the day after feeding and he'd always end up pooping in the water.

Most likely in one to two weeks when you feed again the snake will let go of it once it's got a full belly again and needs more space!
