pspguy Jul 27, 2003 09:15 PM

Okay, I have a 20gal long with 1 basking light and UTH.. my humidity gauge is reading like 40 percent. I sprayed with a water bottle to get back up to like 65 percent, and within 2 hrs its back to 40... what is a good level, I can't be spraying every 2 hours!!

You can make a damp box with a box, hole in the lid and fill it with damp moss. OR you can cover 2/3 of the lid of the tank with a sheet of plexiglass or something solid. Tanks are monster to raise the humidity in otherwise.

So wait, if I put a glass top on my tank instead of a mesh one it should be fine right?? I work at a Pet Supply store, I can get a glass fishtank top that fits no problem.

I would get rid of the basking light. I keep my humidity at least 60%, but I try to maintain around 65%

Cover the top of the tank enough to keep moisture in but still allow air to breath. Put an extra water source under the light. This should raise the humidity. I keep mine at about 60-65%. Thats how i do it.
