HELP!SICK TEGU?

bob_the_snowman Jul 27, 2003 09:35 PM

hello, we have an argentine tegu who we have had for bout 5 months or so. lately he has been very lazy and just buries himself under his dirt, and he seems to refuse to eat mice, but he does accept baby rats? Is he going through hibernation this late? He does come out every now and then, and he seems healthy other then this. PLZ HELP

Being off his food does not necessarily mean "sick". Maybe it's something you have (or have not) done. What temp is the cool end of his cage? And the hot end (with the basking lamp off, then with it ON)? You DO have a basking lamp, right? And it's controlled with a timer? Temp and humidity are important, no... critical. Remember, these are tropical lizards. And you're feeding fruit on a regular basis too, right?
Just a couple of things you might want to think about first.
