Panther EGGS!!!

General_Cha0s Mar 05, 2006 11:18 PM

well she finally dug in and laid, the only change i made was switching the vermiculit into a deeper bucket and compacting it a bit, this seems to have done the trick. she laid 14 eggs, they are very large from what ive read/seen of this species eggs and they seem fertile, ill chek tomorrow (Candling i suppose?)

right now they are in a small tuperware dish about 5 inches across and 2-3 inches deep, i would guess its about 12-16 ounce capacity. they are resting slightly 1/3 burried in moistened vermiculite, i tried to keep them in as close orientation to how they were laid as possible. there is a lid (i wouldnt say neccisarily tight fitting) they are in a hovabator w/fan currently incubating at 76.5 F with a humidity level in the 75-90 range, the incu. is covered by a dark sheet.

the female, Kiala, shows the obvious weight loss and stress from this process, although i did get her to drink quite a bit today. my main priority now is to get her back into peak health.

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS/SUGGESTIONS about the incubation and/or female care would be MUCH APPRECIATED, thx alot for all the help ive had through these forums -ryan

Congrats on getting her through the ovipositing! That's the troublesome part. some of the others will have to help out on the incubation temps, etc. Rehydrating her was of course your first priority. I would be extra diligent with the calcium dust and vitamins and go overboard on insect gutloading for the next 2 weeks. Her calcium reserves could be pretty low right now. diane
