Anyone producing junglecorns??

kingmilk Mar 06, 2006 01:01 AM

Is anyone out there producing junglecorns anymore? I see all kinds of hybrids but cant find many junglecorns. I would think wth all the interesting corn morphs out there that there would be a resurge in interest in making some exciting jungles. Is anyone out there breeding any? All I see tend to be avergae and usually just amel. If you are breeding interesting jungles (Pantherophis g.g X Lampropeltis g. c.), please email me about them at onagadori@yahoo.com . I would love to pick some up this summer/fall, or even now if I could find any, but even more importantly, I am interested in the 50/50 jungles and their potential given all the morphs in cal and corn that are out there. I am a genetics specialist and would love to work with some people on such projects. To see my work with genetics see http://www.panopliageneticus.com
Thanks and hope to hear from some of you.

I am going to try this year, unfortunately I do not have an adult female corn to trick my male, I have a few very young females, I am hoping that will be enough. The cal king doesnt need any tricking, she's great! I did this cross two years ago and got some fantastic babies, and proved my cal female het albino, which was a HUGE surprise!

The amel gene is allelic in the corn and the cal. In other words, they have the same gene at the same allele and neither is "dominant" or "recessive" to the other, as it is the same gene. That is why you can breed an amel cal to an amel corn and get amel in the f1. Try that with other amels and it generally wont work. Even in the same species there can be different alleles of amel that do not work together and are speperate genes, on different chormosomes within the genome. This is one of the most startling results of hybrid experimentation and shows that the corn and cal (and getula in general) are much closer related than the generic assignment would indicate OR, the amel in one "species" actually derives from an early junglecorn cross to take the amel gene into the other species.

I know a jungle corn is king x corn, but how much does the type(anery, amel, hypo) or hets play a role in the out come of the babies....I was also curious if there are any other common/semi-common hybrids between rats, kings, corns, or milks out ther and what they are, I saw one hybrid on a web page over a year ago and can't remember what site, that i really liked and can't find anything like it, any help would be appreciated.
