Triple anti-biotic ointment for turtles eyes?
I'm pretty sure it's the same stuff people use for cuts. Try the pharmacy. It is sometimes calles neosporin.

NO.. that is NOT the same thing. Opthalmic ointments can ONLY be gotten from a vet under a prescription. neosporin and other over the counter TOPICAL ointments will damage or blind if used in the eyes.

It has swollen eyes. I soak him and put in eye drops and he is fine but the next day they are swollen again. Online I read to put that creme on the eyes.

This same discussion is happening on the general tortoises message board right now.
You need to know that there are two of common reasons for closed eyes.. one is easy to fix the other usually requires a vet.. depends on how far it's gone. If it hasn't gotten out of hand you can fix it through diet, if it's gone so far that they're sick then they need a vet.
The simple reason for closed eyes is the turtle needs a more humid atmosphere, so raise the humidty if that's the case. Provide a humid hide for him, give him soaks in tepid water once a day. Make sure the humidity in his enclosure or his hide remains high enough to keep his eyes open.
The more serious reason is that the turtle isn't getting enough vitamin A in his diet but you can't just dose him with a lot of A because it's one of the 4 fat soluble vitamins which means if you give too much it'll become toxic & will kill the turtle.
The better way to make sure they ingest enough vitamin A is to feed them a lot of foods that are high in vitamin A and make sure they always have enough natural A from foods in the diet.
My own boxies being more carnivorous that most other box species will not eat a lot of the greens that are high in A so they get their bugs dusted with vitamin & mineral powders 1-2 times per week. They will eat fruit & some veggies but not a lot.
When they continue to not have enough A in their diet they get sick. Continued lack of good nutrition causes them to eventually have infections, can turn into pneumonia, ear infection,& then they need antibiotic treatment prescribed by a vet.
The best way to prevent infection/illness is by giving them a highly nutritional diet in the first place.
Good luck with this eye problem.

My own experience with rescuing a few sick box turtles has been in agreement with the opinions given here about dietary causes of eye infections -- if that is what your turtle has. You don't mention any pus or drainage, just swelling, so it is not clear there is any infection.
If there is no infection, then likely opthalmic antibiotic ointment will not help. Try raising the humidity, as suggested.
My experience with using Neosporin has been exactly the same as my experience with Rx ointment: clears up ocular infections in a few days to a week. I have never (in three or four cases) had a problem using Neosporin for boxie eye infections.
Also -- consider adding cod liver oil to turtle's food, perhaps a few drops a week for a couple weeks. If the turtle has low vitamin A, this will help. If not a low vitamin A problem, this low level of vitamins will not hurt the turtle.
Best of luck.
"Where can I get
Triple anti-biotic ointment for turtles eyes?”
* Diagnosing the problem may be the first step in order to accurately treat your Boxie’s condition.
The incorrect antibiotic can harm your boxie. Sometimes all that is needed is an external vitamin (A) applied to the eye; depending as stated on the condition. However it would be prudent to determine what’s causing the problem before any treatment.
If you believe you need an antibiotic for your boxie’s eye; the drug I believe you may be referring to is Ophthalmic Terramycin Ointment; a special Ophthalmic Ointment with Polymyxin B Sulfate.
The common over the counter drug Neosporin is NOT for Ophthalmic or eye use and has warnings posted on the drug Never To Use In Eyes.
Can you tell us more regarding the reasons for requesting an antibiotic? What are the symptoms your boxie is showing?
Ric
My boxies all had swollen eyes that would open after being soaked in warm water or had eye drops applied. All but one has healed. I looked it up online and it said to add that ointment. The only other alternitive was a diet issue, which is not a problem with my turtles. I added plenty of humidity by spraying the tank with a water bottle. I soaked the turtles and used eye drops again. The next day the one that had the eye issue had open eyes and not swollen. So I think it was an issue with the humidity. I will keep you updated.
Good I hope humidity is the only problem.
What type of drops are you using? Keep the humidity up, use the drops if they're safe & keep soaking. There shouldn't be any need for an ointment if you can keep their eyes open through higher humidity.
Please do keep us updated, good luck.

Hopefully the eye drops you used has solved your boxie problem.
Incidentally....kind or type of eye drops did you use?
