What do I do?

DeanBright Mar 06, 2006 08:10 AM

Hi,
One of the eggs from the first clutch now that I lowered the humidaty some has started to shrivel a little. Should I raise its humidaty, or is this something that they go through, or is it just a bad egg?

Thanks,
Morgan

This is something they do toward the end of the incubation. But it is also something they do when there is not enough humidity. Put a few dots of water in the substate around the egg (not on the egg) and see if they pop back out.

They are aprox. 36 days. they have been incubating at a higher temp. This is the only egg of the first clutch that was doing this at a lower humidaty. I sprayed some water close to it last night and this morning, but it slowly gets a little more shrivel. What should I do?

hmm, maybe the problem with my egg hatching is that i raise the humidity at the end, i put water in the bottom of the incubator. i think i read that in the directions which were probably for chicken eggs but i don't know.

also, the range is 40-60 days and unfortunately it usually runs more like in the 53 day range so you could still have a while to go

Hopefully it is recoving from this, or perhaps it is getting closer to hatching. 36 days is pretty early, but probably not unheard of. The higher temps could have increased the metabolism a bit.

But, on the otherhand, it could be a a failing egg as well. Hope for the best.
