Rheostats and UTH

the Rigger Jul 27, 2003 09:57 PM

I use a UTH, but don't know how to control the temperatures accurately. I understand what a rheostat does, maintains a preset temperature. My question is this, is there a rheostat that will give you the ability to give a low temp and a high temp? For example, leopard geckos need a higher day temp than night, so if a rheostat only maintains a preset temp, how do you lower it at night without turning your heat source off completely?

Thanks, Rigger

No it onyl does one temp if you wanted to mess with it for a couple of days you could findout what the areas wher for two temops and just move it at night. But everyone leaves it at 90 from what I've heard the breeder I bought my from does and I do too

Rheostats do't give you a temperature reading so you will need to adjust it manually together with a thermostat. I use a temperature control from Alife, you can preset the maximum temperature say 90F degrees, when the temperature reaches 90F it will turn the heat off and turns the heat source back on after the temperature drops below 90F. It works great if you have a room like mine that the temperature fluctuates a lot during the day.
