The past few night my male has been ratteling his tail, much like non-venamous snakes do when threatened. I was wondering if this is a mating behavior, an agressive behavior, or something else non related to the two.
thanks
Joel

They rattle there tails as an excitment responce. This can be if there is prey or a mate near by or a hundred other things that excite the gecko
My Research and Collection
My juvies tend to do this alot more than fully mature males. I think its cool and adds excitement to watching them eat.
Ok, put yourself in his shoes. If you were a Leopard Gecko, what would excite you? Think about it:
"Gonna catch me a big fat juicy vitamin powdered mealworm!" *tail rattle*
"Look! Theres a cricket!! Get em!" [Insert trumpet blareing] "CHARGE!" *Gecko eats cricket* *tail rattle*
"Look at that fine lady gecko over there!" *tail rattle*
Heh...is there a word for male/female gecko (ex: Ferrets- Male:Hob Female:Jil)
