Breeding hybrids

kornfreekiam Mar 06, 2006 12:52 PM

Hey everyone, I have a new female normal on the way from Bob Clark, and would like to crossbreed it with Burms or Afrocks a few years down the road. Can anyone tell me a few details on how to go about this? I was told it's not as simple as breeding a retic to a retic. Could anyone elaborate the differences and added difficulties to me?

It's not the easiest thing to do & I've heard of people who have tried for years with up to 10 different mature individuals with no luck. The winning combination seems to be a male retic and female burm(supposedly less picky than female tics and the sex/size ratio works out better for the eggs). No one really wants to give up the goods either, but there's a few people out there who will dish. try a male tic, female rock/burm & incubate more like a tic.
You'd have an easier with the rock/burm combo

You should try the bobclark forums - a couple people over there have some bateaters (retic x burm).
