I'm interested in getting a Boa, but am unsure as to what to house it in. I want a male red tail. What do you guys house an adult in?

I'm not an expert, but if you get a colombian male a boaphile 421D is the recomended size (4x2x1). If you want a true red tail you will need something bigger (I don't know the exact size). Red tail boa is a very general term, by hobbyists it refers to a boa constrictor contrictor, or south american boa, this includes Surinames, Guyanas, Peruvians, and Brazilians. In pet store terms, it refers to a colombian or a generic mutt boa. It is called a red tail do distract people from the fact that is is actually called a boa constrictor . This is called a pet store boa or a common boa sometimes (not by pet stores though, they like to make you think that everything they have is special).
I am not sure about anyone ells but I would hate to be a 10-12 foot snake and be bent in half in a 4 foot long enclosure. I cant believe they would recommend something like that. That’s only 11” wider but 8” shorter than my 55G Leopard Gecko or 55G Enclosure one of my baby boas are in now. I am by no means an expert either but it just seems that is way to small for an adult snake. Last time I asked a similar question the most common answer I got was give it a cage as big as you can afford or have room for. Right now one of my young Columbians is in a 55G enclosure and the other young Columbian is in a 40G enclosure. The plans for there final home call for an enclosure 8’ long about 3-4’ wide and 3-4’ tall. I would say that is the absolute minimum I would feel good about keep such a large snake in.
My Research and Collection
i think a 4 foot boaphile would be good for a 7 foot male.
