for males...so long as they are big enough to complete the task and sexually mature ofcourse, that age is ok.

your biggest worry is the females age and size. If she is younger than 14 months old then breeding isn't the best idea yet. The eggs that she would be forming would rob her bones of the calcium needed to grow properly. It can be done, but nearly everone on this forum would advise against it....yet some of the big time breeders i bet are breeding at a young age because they have high end (or trendy) dragons and are trying to beat others in haveing available stock (for example; transleucents).

Your male dragon is 10" and 9 months old, or he will be 10 months in 9 more months?? I think you mean the former but it was a bit confusing. I wouldn't breed your male at all till you are sure he is in perfect health. If he hasn't grown at all in a month, not eating well, or otherwise showing signs he isn't in perfect health, I would deal with that problem first, and only breed him once he is a year old or older, in good health and weight.

Though males don't have the same physical burden as a female does when breeding and afterwords, if they are not healthy to start off or genetically a small dragon, breeding will not be a good ideal. A dragon that is eating well but not gaining weight or growing in size, especially wh en under a year old, could have parasites or some other problem that is preventing him from growing. If he came from small parents, it could be a genetic problem, but most often it is parasites, or husbandry reasons. The only other reason I can think off for a dragon to be 10" after 9 months of age, is if they have rankin's bearded dragons in their genetic stock.

I can't remember if you have the female dragon as well, or if you will be using your male as a stud with a friend's female dragon. In either case, you want the female to be at leat 15 months old, with 18 months or older being better. SHe should also be at least 350g, more being better as well. She should also be in perfect health and parasite free. Getting fecals done on both dragons would be ideal, to ensure neither have parasites.
