male or female

Ekeve Mar 07, 2006 12:22 AM

Several months ago when i firdt got my geckos, i was on this all the time, becuase i was concerned about the health of my store bought geckos. I thought they were female. I have both of them in the same tank. And they have been eating fine. At least i thoght they were. When we got them we looked and looked and there were no dots to determine what sex they were and we just assumed.

However lolol Um... I think we made a grave error. I think both of my girls are actually guys. Can you help me out? They were juvies when we got these in Nov.

First picture is of my albino Pinky.

Second here is brainy...

The first one I would say is definitly a male. You can see the post anal bulges, the 2nd one I am not so sure.

OK so on the off chance that they are both male, I have had them together since i bouught them. Will they start to turn on each other then?

I mean Will i need to seperate them soon? Becuase honeslty i haven't seend any indication that they are fighting for spance or anything.

Now brainy she is a bit on teh skiny side but i make sure she does eat and something i will take pinky out to let her eat. Becuase pinky is soo big.

Concerend a bit.

I posted pics of what they look like on teh morph forum, in a thread named old and new.

Yes, those are both males. Both have pronounced pre-anal pores and both have pronounced tail-base bulges. Between the ages of 8 months and 12 months they will start to vie for territory and you will see fighting. The reason the one is so much smaller is probably because the larger male is bullying it. You'd do well to seperate them both now before it escalates into anything big.

ya, they both look like boys, i would seperate them for a while. however even if one is a girl and a boy i would still seperate them becuase you dont want them to breed to young. its kinda like a 13 yr old girl or so having a kid, you should wait a while....and be ready for it. also i have had girls who looked like boys and then look like girls again, so i would keep a close eye.
