My 4 year old Blackthroat had broke off a little bit of her tail when she got scared and repeatedly whipped the plexiglass on her cage about a year or more ago.Now I've noticed recently that another 3 inches of her tail has hardened up and will fall off too soon.Any thoughts as to what I can do to prevent any futher dead tissue (why it spread so far after the injury occured)or something to put on her tail.Thanks to all.

your best bet is to have a good vet dock the tail. you have to cut back far enough that you are into 100% healthy tissue (that can be surprisingly far) and then sew it up, and hope it heals without infection.

if you just nibble at it, or treat it topically, it will continue to rot and die away, eventually killing the animal.

Thanks Robyn.I've never had that happen so I was unsure why it took over a year for for tissue to die.Also,who won Randy vs Chuck 3 UFC?I didn't get the pay per view.Thanks a bunch.

just had that problem with my argus... vet took care of it and sent out the removed part of the tail to make sure what the problem was. It was an infection and the removed a little less then 2in and he told me that the section where it was cut at what healthy. It cost me around $100 just to have the tail looked at but worth it. good luck.

for whatever reason, Randy tried to stand with Chuck again and got hammered, knocked the hell out. still my all time favorite fighter. he retired after the match.

I missed that match, these are both my favourites. If I had known 20 years ago fighting would pay off, man id be in that ring with the boys, oops I was fantasying for a minute!
