Red-eye/White's Setup Question

oregonherpaholic Mar 07, 2006 02:38 PM

Hello all.. was wondering if I could keep a red-eye tree frog in same kind of setup as a white's.. I just gave my whites a larger tank and I would like to use thier old tank for a red-eye tree frog but without changing too much of the plants, waterfall, etc.. It's got lots of live plants, mosses, woods, etc.. Temps are still at 75-80, humidity is 70, lighting is still on timer, so it is basically a terrium already to go.. I will be doing soil cleaning and changes as needed. But would this idea work?? If not, what would need changing??

Thanks in advance,

The Froglady

It should work perfectly fine, just take into account the RETF's need for a higher humidity then a white's, and your fine.

Hey.. It should work with a few modifications.. The temp is a bit high.. and the humidity is a bit low. I have found that RETF's thrive in temps that range from 68 (night) to about 75 (daytime). Also, Mine tend to do best w/ humidity in the 75%-80% range.

As for putting them in the same tank, I would not do it if any of the following are true:
The whites are wild capture
You have not owned the whites for a lengthy time (6 months)
or if you have experienced any health problems at any point with the frogs that were in the tank.

If any of the above are true, you can seriously jeopadize the health of the RETF's..

You don't mean together do you?? White's and Red-eyes have different requirements..At least from what I have read.. That and the whole mixing taboo..
