African soft furred rats

daveypythons Mar 07, 2006 06:18 PM

Hellow, I was wondering where to get the african soft furred rats. I saw a while back neil golli posted something about them. If any one could give me info on where to get them that would be great.

Maybe I can say that since they are paying to advertise here.

I get mine from Michael Cole. He is producing a fair amount and has just recently started selling them to the public. They are not cheap, but for picky eaters or imports, they truely work wonders...

Thanks Neil. Since I live in Oklahoma I can only get frozen. Will the balls still eat the rats reguraly?

I mean eat the frozen soft furred rats regulary?

neilgolli Mar 07, 2006 08:05 PM

Really answer that question as I've never tried them frozen before. I'm currently feeding 5 - 6 snakes regulary with them. I'm going see Micheal this weekend at the tampa show and can get a few frozen from him and try them out. Send me an email at info@gollireptiles.com and I can let you know how it works out for me next week.

Why does your living in Oklahoma influence whether you can use f/t or live rodents for feeding? Has the legislature there actually passed a law against feeding live rodents to reptiles? From your post, that's almost what I'd assume, but I'd be really saddened to think that an otherwise good state like Oklahoma would pass that kind of law. When I lived there, I thought most of the people were pretty reasonable.

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.

Morton we are aloud to feed live prey like rats and rabbits, but we dont have people that are selling african soft furred rats. I have to buy some out of florida and to get live you must pick them up. Since im not going to drive all the way to florida for a few hundred live male rats and dont have the time to. I must get frozen instead.

Thanks for the explanation. Everything makes sense now, but I couldn't imagine what the issue would be when I first read your post.
