Well, if you want that size - definitely get a female...males are much smaller, on average. Feeding and temperament are pretty individual...over the years, I have had some wonderful tame yellows and some that were not so nice. I have had some that feed like clockwork, and some that are sporadic (one of my males recently went off feed for 9 months - I tried EVERYTHING.
Finally, I just cooled him and put him in with a female - I wasn't figuring on anything happening, I was just short on cage space because I had things paired up. I separated them and he took a rat the next day...been eating regularly ever since. That was a first for him, but I had had it happen before. Get yourself a CBB that is already feeding and you should be all set. As for the set up, I start mine in 6 or 12 qt sterilites and move them up as they grow. If you intend to use an aquarium, I would start with a 30 long with plenty of good hides. Temps: I keep some in a temp controlled room (84), the other ones are in cages with a gradient of about 78-88. I prefer and use under cage heat. Whether or not you provide a "pool" is up to you. They will love it and use it alot...which means you will be cleaning and disinfecting it alot. They will regularly urinate and/or defecate in the water. If they can't get into the water bowl, they will often spill it (if possible)...if not, they will put their heads in the water and lay there for hours. I keep mine on paper, but if you are using an aquarium, you might want to use mulch for substrate as it will help retain humidity (and can be sprayed as needed). Sorry this was kinda long - and it isn't even complete. Check out the girl in the thread below this

Nerd has care sheets on there site.

In my personal opinion a yellow anaconda that is already eating f/t. And is cb. is a perfect pet. But just like any other snake they have there own personalites. ur prolly gonna get nipped, if ur lucky lol. But in my opinion u can tame almost anything with proper care and handeling. I think a female yellow is almost the perfect middle ground between big snakes and small ones.
