Breeding Florida X Brooksi

toppy Mar 08, 2006 10:37 AM

I have an adult Brooksi male and Adult female florida king. If I breed these this spring, How often does the regualr florida king carry the brooksi gene? could I get brooksi babies? or would they all be florida het for brooksi? Also how large are king clutches? I get 5 or 6 eggs from my hondos. Do kings have more or less eggs?

Let me know thanks Chris

First off, brooksi kings are not considered a morph, so a regular FL king carrying brooksi genes will not be inherited in any predictable manner. The brooksi king is a pale or lighter phase of a normal FL king. You will probably get a few light babies, a few dark babies, and a few in betweens. Either way you'll get a mix of offspring that vary from one parent type to the other, and all variances in the middle.
