baja collared distribution

ehuante Mar 08, 2006 11:24 AM

Hello all. I will be in san diego CA in a few weeks and I was wondering if if anyone had ever seen any C.vestigium in or around Tecate.CA. Its a family trip so i wont have time to go all the way up to Anza borrego, but i think i can make as far as Ocotillo CA. following the hwy 8. Does any one know where along this route i might photograph some baja collards?
THanks.
ed
Ps. I've seen the site CAliforniaherps.com but im looking for more specific locations./

Various populations of the granite outcroppings should hold a population of these in the Tectate area but be careful there have been unscrupulous people out there from what I have heard. Also they have been having rain out their, I assume of there is a real warm-up you'll need to keep an eye out for rattlers while your transversing the granite out crops..........You may need a binocular to see these first.....I have seen various pictures of areas where Palm trees are mixed in valleys with outcroppings in Imperial County..........
