Brand new babies!

seboba17 Mar 08, 2006 11:36 AM

Well, after a long wait, i had two crested eggs hatch last night. I now have two brand new babies, i had no idea how tiny they'd be.

Anyway, I have them set up in a 2.5 gallon, on paper towels. I didn't put in a water bowel, because i didn't have a shallow one, but I gave the tank a good mist.

I have a couple of questions:

Should I feed them right away, or wait till their first shed?
Is misting an aceptable replacement for a water dish?

any other details that I might overlook?

Thanks!

Good luck with the hatchlings.
In my experience hatchlings will not even look at food for the first 2-7 days, so there is no real hurry in getting them to eat.
I never give my cresteds a water dish, but i spray twice a day, once lightly in the morning, and once fairly heavily in the evening.
The only advantage to providing water dishes in my opinion is to keep the animals from accidentally consuming fecal matter that they may lick off of cage accesories while drinking water droplets.
