Heat/lighting

Chickadee0104 Jul 28, 2003 12:07 AM

I am considering purchasing a pair of leopard gex at a show next weekend, and I want to get their habitat set up now. What is the most cost-effective way to provide leopard geckos with UV light and heat? Those UV bulbs are sooooo expensive. The one I have for my Uros was $65. Just curious to see if there is a cheaper way to do it.

Thanks!

I dont think you need a UV light. Leos are nocturnal so they dont need special lighting. Just a heat lamp if you cannot get your temps high enough. Im sure some more experienced people could give you more information too.

First off leos don't require a UV light, they are a nocturnal species, but if you want to provide your leos with a UV light you can. I find that the best method, is either heat tape or a UTH. They don't use up a lot of energy and can also provide heat at night so that you leos don't get to cold. n/p
