I Need Help!!!!!

doromp Mar 09, 2006 03:41 AM

i just bought a new ball python. It's my first snake. I just fed it on saturday(today is wed.) I have read and been told it is not good to handle your snake for a couple days after feedimg, so i haven't. The thing that is worrying me is that ever since it has eaten it has just sat in the same hiding spot since then. At first i wasnt that worried, i figured he was just hiding and would become more active at night, this never happened. Today i decided that iw ould try and open up the cage and try and handle him, make sure he was or. When ever i got near him he would move his head away really quick and avoid me as much as possible. I've handled him before and he has never responded this way. I dont know if he is stressed for some reason, i cant really imagine why though. Anyways, i am really worried (maybe this is normal, i dont know this is my first snake). I'd relaly like as much help as possible for this, or if you think i need to take my snake to a vet. Thanks!!

Sounds normal. Most snakes are timid and prefer being left alone rather then being handled.

This is normal and I have found that our balls were head shy alot when we first got them. But after we have handled them on a regular basis that they have calmed down. hope this helps
