Could Norman be a girl? (RETF)

gbjk Mar 09, 2006 06:40 AM

Norman, one of my RETF, has gotten quite big.
About two inches long or more, I'd say, and very broad.

The other RETF, Thor, has remained about 1 and a half inches long,
and much more narrow.

Norman only started to get bigger over the last few months.
Always been a tiny bit broader, but suddenly much longer and broader, easilly told apart from Thor, whereas I used to have to use markings.

It really does look like Norman might be female, but I regularly hear a chirping, and when I flick the IR light on, it's Norman that's got a bulged throat, and Thor looks either asleep, or dis-interested.
Norman looks caught in the act, so to speak.

What about the snout should I be looking at to try and distinguish a female? Just more rounded and pronounced?

There's a photo of Thor about 6 months ago attached.
I'll try to remember to get some new photos of them both.

Thanks

Dunno about gender of your frog, but beautiful coloration. I might have a link to a web page at home about sexing red eye tree frogs. Ill post it when i get home. What are you feeding them at that age?

Thanks, that would be appreciated!

They've been fed small-medium crickets from the start.
I put a dish out with about 4 in every night or other night.
They tend to eat what they feel like and leave the rest.

Crickets are well fed and dusted once a week.
