condensation

maestrOwen Mar 09, 2006 07:56 AM

I put my blood and Borneos in big Sterilite bins before I left for college in January. I went back home last week and there was condensation all over the sides and when I lifted up the tops, the condensation would run down and drip on the snake and sphagnum moss. My mom said it wasn't a problem and I looked and the sphagnum moss wasn't soaking wet and was even sort of dry in some parts.

So I don't know...is it a problem and should I tell my mom to spray less or drill some more holes in the bin? Or does this just happen?

Owen,
Usually if there is a large amount of condensation on the enclosure there is too much humidity. However sometimes they will get really humid when heating up alot or spilling a water bowl or something. You best bet is to get a humidity monitor for the cage and then you can go by the actual level of humidity instead of just taking a guess at it.
