HELP! BP, GTP, corns w/Mites, any ideas?

Nisa Mar 09, 2006 09:26 AM

I read a post where someone with a GTP lost their snake using Repti-Relief. I have a major outbreak here involving the BPs, GTP and the corns. The GTP and corns are all young snakes and most of the BPs are not that old. Please help with any experience that will work for all of them. I posted to the GTP list, too, but it tends to be slow over there. I have vision problems and missed them until it got bad. I feel awful.

I had a problem awhile back with my JCP/Diamond pair and the best stuff in my opion is Provent-A-Mite from Pro-Products.

http://www.pro-products.com/miteandtemp.html

I spoke with the guy who runs the place, Bob Pound I believe, and he was really , really down to earth and helpful.

With this stuff you can treat for existing mites or pretreat just about ANY surface or sustrate and it acts as a preventative.

Be careful and follow the directions. You do NOT want to put the snake back into the enclosure UNTIL you ventilate it out.

Good Luck,

Alan

Well I've scrubed and treated cages, soaked and oiled snakes. And that was just my 6 babies and juviniles. That gets one room out of the way. So tomorrow just to be safe I do the adults. Which includes the Haitians who will musk, and who are worse than a skunk. I see why my friends let me have them (Just kidding).

I'd never thought about preventative treatment. I know to observe for the pests, but now I'll be sure to try and get them before I see em

Mites may not be able to live on people, but they still nibble. I so wish I didn't have these pests. Mainly becase my babies suffer, but the palm sized welts arn't a picnic either. Me and Mom both are allergic to the things.
I'm off to bd now and hopefully things will be better tomorrow. Oh wait Haitians. Better Saterday then.

Nisa (Hopeing to not see these things again and relizing prevenative is very good)

One of the BPs that I acctually have seen mites on it is one that I've not gotton to eat yet. She's a bit thin, other wise I wouldn''t ask, but is this going to set her way back on eating for me?
