JUST WONDERING WHO ...

JOEP123 Mar 09, 2006 10:33 AM

Thinks this is the right way to go.
I am looking for a Suriname Female, and I found one that is just what I am looking for. I spoke to the person that has her, and he goes on telling me she is from a good line but he prefers not to say the name of the original breeder because he does not want advertize for him. I am only wondering why would someone do this.
Do not get me wrong she is a beutiful suriname with big peeks, but I really would like to know who originally produce her.
Is it too much to ask?
He told me he does not get paid by the person that orinally produced her to advertize for him.
Any input will be really appreciated.

I don't know why someone would have that kind of attitude....? ....I would think they are affraid you would rather buy from the one who produced that animal so they don't want to say....I think if the animal is right for you then go get it...and maybe after the deal they will let you know. Hope your doing well. Andy

I really like her and I am just wondering if I should go for it or not.
How is that female doing? Did she or still waiting.
Are you going to white plains?
Thank you,

customer of mine. They called me for input on the seller cause he would not tell them who produced the animals. So I did my calling around and found out who did produce the animals and why the seller wouldn't say who produced them. The reason why he wouldn't say was because the person that produced them was selling them cheaper. I won't by from people like this cause it's nothing but immature shadyness IMHO but they are out there.

If you really want that suri I say pick it up but use caution cause if he/she is being shady like that no telling what the condition of the snake will be.

These are just my thoughts and opinions.

I agree with Ruben, it does seem kind of shady that he won't tell you who produced them. Most people who are selling animals are very proud of their lineage, and will tell you everything you want to know about them.

And if the seller won't tell you who produced them because that person is selling them for cheaper, then that does sound like he is only interested in making a buck. And then I would question whether or not he/she is in it for the right reasons. Just my .02 cents.

Hi Joel,

IMHO, I wouldn't buy from this seller. If the seller won't/can't name the producer and they're price is a lot higher, why not go right to the source? At least then you have a verifiable line if you produce babies. Otherwise any babies you produce might be hard to sell, because you won't know the lineage. A potential future buyer would be in the same boat you're in now.

is it that pic that you posted above?
Here's a picof one of the Suri's that was stolen from me, or that I was 'defrauded' of... to be absolutely correct.

thanks, Joe

Joel:

I totally agree with you. The other day I was talking to a potential customer and he asked me who was the originator of the line of boas that I breed from and I told him. I mentioned if he'd like I could get the guys number for him. I was pleasantly surprised when this guy said thanks for the info, but I would rather do business with you because you were the guy I contacted. This business can't be just about making money. Sometimes you just got to do the right thing.

I know I am always careful when getting a new boa. I try to talk to people who have bought animals from the seller before.

With my boas I like to know the lineage, as far back as I can. I chose my Bolivian stock because I can trace them back to their grandparents, which will be useful if I ever have babies to sell.

If they are from a good line, why isn't he bragging about it.
I know when I post pictures of my boas I like to give credit to the bloodline/breeder. This is especially true among Surinam lines, Futo, Sipperly, Miller, Tudehope, FLRT, etc.

The fact that he is with-holding information would make me look elsewhere.

Just to play devil's advocate...
It sounds like this guy may just be being difficult, but I know of a lot of breeders that take the wholesale prices from brokers because they don't want to be contacted. They don't want to deal with the customers on an individual basis, so they sell babies in lots and take 1/3 of the price they could get selling them one by one to keep some privacy and not have to do the "tech support" that should follow any animal from any seller. I think part of what you pay for in an animal is the opportunity to call back and ask questions. Unfortunately, I know a lot of bigger dealers that don’t agree.
