kailin120288 Mar 09, 2006 11:13 AM

my beardie is being stubborn and is not eating her veggies like she's supposed to be. I put them in her cage everyother day and she barely eats any by the time her lights go out. what can i do if there is anything i can do?

How old is she? It's common for younger ones not to eat them, especially if the breeder didn't take the time to get them started on them. Keep offering and give it time, eventually she'll start eating them.

I would offer greens daily, cut very fine and drop either silkworms, appropriate sized crickets or for older dragons (10" long or more) some newly molted superworms. Bury the insects into the salad or give the insects time to work their way underneath the greens, then put the salad into the cage. Maybe drop a cricket or two to catch your dragon's attention. Most times, when dragons are diving into the greens to get the insects, they will get some greens at the same time. This usually gives teh dragon a taste of greens and they realize that greens are good too.

A couple posts down, somebody had a good suggestion which has worked well for him. Using a juicer or any blender that can blend stuff into pulp, you can prepare a tasty 'dressing' for the salad to further entice them to eat it. Nector type fruits would be good to do this way with some vegetables and healthy greens. May take some experimentation to see what works best with your dragons.

I have always read from posts how their beardies would eat their greens all the time but mine didnt. I would offer them every day week after week. Tried everything. Cutting them up fine and putting worms in there and nothing. They wouldn't touch them. Then came brumation. They slept and slept. Then they woke up and guess what??? They are eating their veggies and they love blueberries!!! Do as suggested and keep putting them out and they will eat them. I know it seems like a waste of money buying them and them not eating them. But they will when they want. Good luck!
