Axantiic Trans Pecos Ratsnake?

Sighthunter Mar 09, 2006 01:55 PM

I have followed some of the threads on differing mutations of silver, grey, axanthic etc... One thing has always bugged me, their heads. Their heads are all the same. Brown or brown yellow. I would love to see a picture of one with a silver head, all silver. Do they exist? Mabe that is why snow has not been made? Mabe the grey mutation is just that, grey, silver or whatever but not true axanthic.

Bill...
the reason snow hasn't been made is because not enough triple hets have been bred yet...Todd Smith and Glenn from Y-Knot Reptiles are the only people to have bred triple hets together.
Since snow happens in 1 out of every 16 babies...it might take a couple of years or more to produce one.
Todd has bred his triple hets twice...in '04 he only got two eggs out of the female...and a blonde and "normal" hatched.
This year he got an albino and silvers of both patterns.
The axanthic is TRULY axanthic, and the albino is truly albino...so a snow will happen.
I am guessing this year it will happen becuase I and (from what he told me) Craig Trumbower will be breeding ours as well.
There's bound to be a snow in there somewhere.

Trumbower's silvers were "cleaned" of any dark, dirty wash. They are almost white, becuase they are such clean animals...pure silver.
My triple hets were bred from that line...Craig used the same axanthic gene that hatched in Mark's incubator...he just perfected it.
Go look at Wayne Howell's silvers on his web site...those are Trumbower bloodline silvers...and are as fine as axanthics come.

I saw Craigs stock in Florida it still does not address the issue of Brown/Yellow heads. I still have not seen not one picture of a silver without a brown/yellow head.

Say that fast 5 times! LOL
Well...here is your very first viewing of Trumbower silvers without brown/yellow heads...these are 100% pure silver from horn to hoof. Not a trace of yellow or brown on these guys.
And so clean...they are nearly white.

Here's my axanthic. He was one of the axanthics produced last year by Todd and Glenn of Y-Knot. No brown head here.

Hey Gregg,
That silver is nice. I have noticed that males usually have brighter and cleaner colors, somewhat similar to the trend in corns. A brother of one of my adult females is completely light silver.
How is your family doing Gregg?

Have a good weekend.

Thanks Dusty, and Sighthunter,

I'm sort of proud of this fellow. I picked up a triple het. girl to go with him. Maybe, one of these days, it will "snow" in my snake room too. They're both carrying the European albino gene, so if I get a pair of these one day, I'll send them your way Dusty.

The family's doing okay. They complain about the amount of time I spend holding snakes and not them--Know what I mean? LOL.

I can't wait for the Suboc site.

Hey Gregg,

What were the parents of your snakes?
