Climbing branch

theperfectlestat Mar 09, 2006 09:11 PM

I just got a much larger enclosure for my water dragon, and I want to get a branch for him to be able to climb on, sice the one he has now is rather dwarfed in the new cage. The problem is, the pet stores around here only sell small branches, and those tend to cost more than I payed for my dragon in the first place.

I would like to provide him with a nice branch without breaking the bank. If I found a branch outdoors and cleaned it up for him, would that be safe? I don't want to introduce any parasites or potentially poisonous branches.

Is there a certain kind of wood I should avoid? Some way I can treat it to be sure there are no parasites? Or is it just a bad idea in general?

If you soak it in bleach water for a week and then spray it clean that works. Also if you can the best way is to sandblast it, that's what they do with grapevine.

Most are fine. Just bake it in the oven to make sure the "critters" are gone.
