PURPLE TONGUE BTS!?!

coluberking25 Mar 09, 2006 09:48 PM

I was talking to my friend recently and he said he once had a BTS that was considered a "rare purple tongue morph." I believe that he had a BTS but a purple tongue morph? Something tells me the seller wanted a quick buck. If I'm wrong and such a morph does exist, can I please see some pics? Thanks

Someone has one leg longer than the other now - for sure!!!
Dang these greedy sellers.... it wouldn't suprise me if the skink turned out to be an fresh import either!

Some skinks can have a combination of colors on the tongue - pink on the base and changing to blue on the tip. I suppose this could look like purple to some folks. But that isn't how you tell that it is a blue-tongued skink anyway.... after all, there are monitors with blue tongues too!

Well he knew it was a BTS. It was awhile ago when he had it, and he got rid of it because it got too smelly. Is that really a problem with BTSs? The smelliness I mean. I never hear any talk of their smell.

As with any animal, proper care and diet is often an issue. I always thought our beardies generate more odors with their leavings.

I have heard of many folks feeding cat food to skinks - ours only eat a small quantity of chicken diet (dog or cat). It could be that your friend fed something else and it was the cause.
