Just looking at both of your posts where eggs are being laid and I don't see any type of bedding in either one of them. I'm no expert but don't hognose snakes prefer something to burrow into?
Thanks

I use paper towels and they like it just fine! all of my snakes are very happy just the way I have them. if I just had one or two snakes then I would have them set up for more of a display , but I have several snake that are set up for breeding and it is much easier to keep all the cages clean with paper towels.
PS any other breeders want to help me out her?
thanks.

I use shredded aspen, and have been for several years. I used newspaper in the 80s to the mid 90s, but my collection has grown to around 150 breeders and, and I needed a lower-maintenance approach. It takes me about an hour and a half daily to go through all the snake racks, spot clean any fresh defecations, and check water bowls. I find that spot cleaning allows me to keep the enclosures far cleaner than with newspaper, which doesn't lend itself to spot cleaning very well. I can get by with a total substrate change every couple of weeks or three, as needed. With Newspaper I pretty much had to devote one of my days off each week to changing all the cages. Plus, my snakes, especially the milks and hoggies, just love to burrow in it! In most cases i can even dispense with hide boxes.

I used paper towels for a while, hated them I've been using aspen bedding for a while looks nicer and is alot easier to clen, when it is soiled I remove the defedation and surrounding bedding and toss in a new scoop or two full

I've always been a fan of cypress mulch. I think it looks nicer, holds humidity better and has all the other pros of aspen.
