Scale Count??????????

AJCrader Mar 10, 2006 07:52 AM

I keep hearing about scale counting, I being still fairly new, have no idea what this means, and I figured it best to ask the most helpful people here, before i go wandering around the net.

There are some great explanations and illustrations of what scale counts are all about in the best selling book in herpetology "A Field Guide to Reptiles & Amphibians of Eastern & Central North America" (Peterson Field Guide Series) by Roger Conant and Joseph T. Collins.

It's kind of hard to discuss without visuals - the scales on a snakes head, for instance, all have unique names.
