Thinking of taking cham outside

schwartzenstobe Mar 10, 2006 12:45 PM

Hello, all I live in new jersey and tomorrow it is supposed to be 65-70. I was thinking of bringing my 1.5 year old jackson outside for some real sun. Does anyone thinking that is to cool. his ambient temps are 77 and those temps I mention are his night time temps.

If this is the first time for him, it may freak him at first. Provide a lot of cover so he can expose himself when he wants to. Also, put something over part of the cage so he can get out of a draft or the sun if it gets too warm. Don't leave him out too long and stay around the house just in case something changes and you need to get him back inside.

I take mine out (adults and babies) all winter long here in Vegas. It can be in the low 60s but my backyard is enclosed and it gets really warm in the sun. Watch them, they'll go broadside to the sun and darken up. I mist them twice in the hour or so they're outside as well. Over 77F ambient and I'd be getting ready to bring them in.
