Biggest Nelson's Milk

snakesunlimited1 Mar 10, 2006 02:50 PM

I just got in a trio of Nelson's with 1.1 being full adults and 0.1 being from 04. The adults are huge for Nelson's in my opinion at 4.5 feet give or take a inch or two. I was wondering what the biggest nelson's you guys have seen are. Is it common to get Nelson's over 4 feet or are the books right in saying that the are usually in the 36 to 42 inch range??

Thanks Jason

Hey Jason,
It is not uncommon to see some of the much older snakes attain lengths of 4 feet. My two oldest breeder male albinos are large, one being 48" and the other being 50". I also have a 1997 hypoerythristic male sinaloan that is 51". All of them are truly impressive animals. (Pictured below is a super nice 2005 hatchling male)

If that purple color is that bright in person that snake must be unreal, very very nice Tom Stevens

Thanks Tom for the compliment. Some of the best looking babies I produce tend to have that odd purplish hue within their white. It obviously goes away fairly quickly during their first few months of life. By the way, yes, I am near Houston, about 35 miles north in The Woodlands.

Hey Nathan,

Great snake. I'd love to see some pics of those giant albino nelsons and sinaloans that you have in your collection if you get a chance.

Hey Dave,
Unfortunately, all of the males I mentioned in the above post are deep in blue. I'll get a few pics and post them as soon as they shed out. However, below is an 38" adult female who's not too shabby.
Hope you are well.

I don't think I have ever seen a snake with such bright reds and yellows. Truly incredible! Thanks for sharing. Derek

Have you seen them up to 54-58 inches. I have seen Sinaloans at 48" but I was under the impression that Nelson's where smaller. A 48 inch animal would seem big but still normal these snake I just got are a bit bigger than I was expecting and are supposed to be '98s. I will post a pic in the next couple days. I just had a wisdom tooth out and the idea of bending down to take snakes out and then trying to get shots of the is not that appealing.
