My Toad

bigguykev36 Jul 28, 2003 05:12 AM

This is my happy little Toad. Dunno what exactally he is besides a normal old Leopard Gecko, these pics aren't TOO good seeing as my camera doesn't really like to focus, and he/she's getting ready to shed..... But how do I tell which it is, he or she? also is my lizard anything special? or just your standard run of the mill petco gecko? a friend gave it to me a long time ago, and I never foind any of this stuff out... and unfortunately this friend died.... so I cannot ask her. I was also hoping to breed him/ her, kinda keep the bloodline going, as a way of kinda keeping a memory of my friend alive, ya know? It's also been a hobby I've been thinking about getting into, any books I should check out? Thanks!

No, it just a normal. Look at the vent. If there are two big bulges and a series of pores than it's a boy. If there are some small bulges and no pores (you might be able to see some but not that good) it's a girl. Could you take a picture then we could tell you. Go to the library or to a petshop and there is usually some leo books you can get. Good luck, Katie

Your gecko appears to be a normal.

I would suggest reading around at all the caresheets available on the internet for info, go to google.com and search "leopad gecko care". My website has a thorough caresheet and a section on breeding too! Here is the link: www.dreamgecko.com/caresheet.html

As far as books go, I would recommend the leopard gecko manual, it is a very good book full of detailed info.

and finally, ask plenty of questions here, there are many experienced gecko owners and breeders that can provide information not usually available in caresheets and books.
