I've always fed f/t without any problems, but am curious as to the killing habits of pits. Mine have never constricted prey, but more has it half swallowed before the strike is even recoiled. With live prey, how do pits subdue it?

Pits are incredibly powerful constrictors. I feed 99% p.k. or frozen thawed, and the majority of my animals still have the destroy instinct present even on a p.k. rodent, showing full constriction (all be it not constricting for long). Fast, powerful, and as chondrodemon said in his post, without mercy. Take care!

It's been my experience with my bullsnake, that he rarely, if ever just bites, throws a loop or two around the rodent and constricts like pythons, or kingsnakes etc. He usually just uses the side of his body to mash it against the sides of the cage. It's my understanding that this is the way they kill several mice at a time when they crawl into a mouse tunnel. They seem to be very sensitive to touch on their sides, and this is why.
