What is the top one on this post? I seem to remember that it is some kind of MSP thayeri, but I have problems distinguishing many of those southwestern snakes. (My memory is worse than my ability to identify snakes.) Both of these are beautiful animals.
I'm up only because I just fed my CalKing. I left an adult mouse and a pinkie mouse in his cage over an hour ago. He had been awake and moving around the cage just ten minutes before I introduced the mice, but when I put them in the cage, he didn't wake up to eat them. I finally decided that I'd sleep better knowing that he'd eaten, so I roused him and dangled the mice in front of him. He needed some time to negotiate the adult mouse. The pinkie he took quickly. Now, he's running around the cage looking for more. I wish I'd thawed another pinkie. He weighs 380 grams, and I just gave him 30 grams of mouse. I hope that will hold him for another week. Any thoughts?
Is "splendida" the name of the desert kings? There's a desert king in the pet store near my home. If the store owner ever gives up on selling snakes and gives them away on a rescue basis, I may try to save that guy. He's a neat little animal, but I'm just not attracted enough to buy him. I am worried for him. As far as I know, my CalKing is one of the only snakes that's ever left that shop alive. Both of their ball pythons died. Their milk snakes and some of their corns died. Maybe they sold one corn that lived. Their red-tail boa doesn't look good. Their gopher snake seems to be in absolutely perfect health. The desert king looks a little thin but otherwise okay. Their new CalKing seems okay so far.
Oh well, I better try to get some sleep.
Thanks,
Bill

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.
