Do you just use the type of silicone that comes in the caulk gun tubes and paint it on with a brush or is there an actual spray type of silicone in which can be used?

You put it in a caulk gun and pump it into place where you want it to go. It doesn't spray, it squishes in blobs into place. Afterwards, you can then wet your fingers and squash it a bit to where you want it to go, if this is necessary. You shape the tit that comes out of the caulk you are using to fit whatever you are working on. You can use an Exacto knife to shape the tip. Pump up the caulk gun and press it on. ??? Am I answering your question, or have I become confused about what you asked?

Make sure the silicone you purchase does not have mold inhibitors in it, these can be toxic. people also have success simply pressing coco bedding onto the great stuff as it dries, skipping the silicone process all together.
