I contacted ED and am getting a baby emerald as soon as it warms up he will ship. I am very excited. Somthing new ya know. You all are correct to, he is very honest and it confirms that he is a great guy to do buisness.

Thanks again

Few questions

1. Handling, is it ok how long should I wait?
2. feeding, is that every 10 days or once a week and then three feeds and poop, and if no poop them no feed.
3. Temps, I think I have 85 during the day and 78 at night?

Thanks again

Jeff

You have made a good choice, Ed Marino is one of the best.
As far as handling, we have our perchs removable in order to inspect babies. We also handle them, but are very careful about removing them from the perch. Never "pull" on them as you can kink the tail. Gently tickling the tail will get them moving.

We have had great success feeding our babies once every 10 days and following the 3 meal rule.

We keep our babies at around 80 F as the hot side day and night and don't start a night drop until around a year old.

Hey Jeff,

I think that people differ somewhat with the way they care for their snakes but here are my answers to your quetions...

1. I handle my emeralds all of the time...and I mean 'all of the time', probably to the point of me being annoying lol! This morning I had some animals out and they fed anywhere from 5 - 7 days ago. I am not saying it's ok to swing them around like a carnival ride but gentle handling of animals that fed 5 days previously is ok in my book.

2. My animals are pretty much on a weekly feeding cycle but then again they are always getting excersize so they go to the bathroom on a normal basis (between every meal - every three meals). I haven't run into any problems with this feeding schedule and it's what works for me.

3. 85 - 78 sounds fine and the fluctuation could even be a bit more to the low side...but no higher than mid eighties or high eighties, that may cause problems. If the animals get too hot they might move to the bottom of their enclosures or they may be on the move during the day looking for a cool spot.

This is what I do for my animals and it may fluctuate a bit but that's the norm.

Good luck!
