Green tree frog temps

markg Mar 12, 2006 03:43 AM

First post for me on this forum.

We just got a green tree frog (Petco, sorry). It is doing fine thus far. We keep him in a cage with about 75-78 deg ambient air temp.

How warm is too warm for the ambient air temp? The room he is in can get to 85 during very warm weather.

Do these frogs brumate/hibernate in Winter? Do keepers usually do this with their captives?

Thanks.
Mark

I keep my treefrogs from 75 to 85 as thats the room temp all year long it fluctuates .
I think IDEAL is 78 to 80 . They just seem "happier" at those temps day or night.
The key is to keep them humid mist them daily and damp substrate. You dont want the tank drying out. like kingsnakes/ milksnakes they prefer to come out at night .
Your temps are fine you just want them to remail moist and get another one they do well with more than one ofcourse not needed but they just seem more relaxed .
If you have a male and you mist him at night (aged or bottled non chlorine water) he will call and thats neat to hear.

Hey..
85 is to hot for green tree frogs.. It should stay between 70-80 most of the time for those guys.. keep it moist/damp

Here is a care about GTF's.. It will cover alot of your questions about the tank, conditions etc..

Good luck

Mine at 75 and under arent as active at night as they are from 78 to 80. Again I mist and keep it humid.
The room I keep them at goes upto 85 during the summer during the day but your right that doesnt mean its ideal but I do think 78 to 80 is.
