first clutch of the season

rwoodyer Mar 12, 2006 03:14 PM

Well my first female dropped last weekend...haven't had a chance to post it yet. But here they are. There were six good eggs one slug, twenty minutes later, when I checked on her again a suprise. One more good egg. I didn't notice it in her when I was moving her around, she must have been pretty pissed off about the whole thing, because she dropped the last one in the water bowl, but it seems fine despite a twenty minute long bath.

So seven good eggs, one slug, not bad for her first clutch. She was 2100 grams before dropping, 1400 after.

Thanks, any cinny ovulations yet?

This same female that just layed for me is already back eating large rats, back up to 1600 grams in one meal...lol

Gotta love captive bred balls!

It's always nice to see them take food after laying. I always gently wash the female with a mild soap and rinse them well. Then I put them in a clean tub with new bedding. They almost always start eating again as long as they don't smell the eggs any more. I agree about the captive born. I have never had a CB baby that didn't eat right after their first shed. The Axanthics I hatched in February actually ate before the first shed, and then shed by the next morning. I have 3 females bred to the Cinny male I got from Brian Kowitz that have ovulated so I have high hopes. I'll keep you posted.

Let's hope so, she was locked up with a bell line pastel and the spider we picked up from you in 04. The spider male has been a breeding machine, he bred at least 3 other females. One was a 2700 gram female we picked up last year for $85 (which subsequently layed a clutch of normals). She ovulated again this year looking like she ate about 2 medium rabbits. She is just about to crawl out of her Post ov shed, so I expect about 10 eggs in a month or so. I also have my fingers crossed for super pastels or bumblebees this year, my adult pastel female is building...

How about some pics of the banana clown...haven't seen any pics of her in awhile
