Looking to sell Leos on the 'net for the 1st time - A little advice needed

LovelyLeopards Jul 28, 2003 09:02 AM

Hi Everybody,

I'm looking to sell some of my babies on the 'net for the first time. I have lots of normals, HY and a few tangs that need homes or will shortly. I'm planning on opening an account here on Kingsnake. But first I need to know - which carrier service is the absolute best/ most reliable? I've received herps by way of Airborne, FedEX and UPS. Also, where do you guys buy shipping supplies like boxes, deli cups, cool packs, etc. I've looked at LLLReptile and some places like that. Any other advice/ suggestions are gladly appreciated. Thanks so much! Oh, by the way, below is a pic of 2 of my little 3 week olds that will soon be for sale! Cute, huh?

Very cute. I have had geckos shipped to me in a few different ways and I like UPS the best. I have never had a problem w/ shipping from any carrier though. The key to successful shipping I have noticed is the packaging.

UPS seems to be the choice for most breeders although I have received geckos via FedEx and Airborne as well. Personally I will go with either UPS or FedEx.

If you are looking for deli cups, The Bean Farm sells them also and I think cheaper than LLL Reptile.

Here's a link for the place I get all my shipping supplies. They have the best prices that I have found.

As for who to ship with. Technically, only the USPS, who wont guarantee overnight delivery, UPS and Delta Dash are the only carriers that allow you to ship geckos. And you're supposed to get permission from UPS prior to shipping, Delta dash is expensive, and they want to inspect your "facilities" before they give you an account. Of course, a lot of people ignore the rules and ship w/out permission or through other carriers, but that is a subject worthy of a whole other thread.
