In the Apalachicola region you have the Apalachicola National Forest, Tates Hell, and other areas...some developed, some not.
That could never happen....is that not what you said about the pair that produced the Amel being found the same day at the same spot? Tom Stevens
I seriously doubt this pair will produce Amels. If they do, I'll apologize for being wrong. Until then, I still think the Amel gene in "goini" was captive produced.
You know that is not what I meant. You said you did not believe 2 Goini could even be found on the same day or at the same spot, but now you did it but still take a shot at my snake. I don't care what you think, and your apology to me would be worthless. Just pointing out that things you feel may not be possible, just might be, as you proved with your find. Tom Stevens
Hmmmmm, couldn't find a post where I said that. Find it and prove me wrong. And I know I've stated before that up to 5 "goini" used to be found in one day back in the 70s and 80s. Not likely now but it could happen I guess. Amels popping out from a WC pair? Lost the parents, have no pictures of them, can't say who found them, wait ten years to tell people, get the info wrong when I do and have to go back to the source and get correct info, etc. So I guess Amel "goini" are possible after all.
I have said all I am going to say about the history of Chips Goini. Not everyone cares about the same thing when morphs are concerned. What is funny is the collector was probably as happy as you seem to be when he found his pair, without having a clue the female would mother an Amel. Then when it did he still thought not much of it....but I personaly did. So did some of my friends. We have them now and that's all good. You have had these snakes ONE DAY and already you're lining up sales. Now that is freakin funny. Looking forward to seeing you in Daytona
Tom Stevens
I have said all I am going to say about the history of Chips Goini
Yeah, you don't want to keep confusing people with your conflicting information.
The only one confused was you,and as you know...or should know the majority of those posts were deleted. I have all the pics and the history which will go on my web site. I just pointed out the fact you found two in one day at one spot which you said was impossible. Don't ask me to look for it as I am sure the mods deleted most of those old posts. Now you are here talking your BS as usual. I have shared the history with many people since last year, and will continue to do so as I understand people would like to know about the snake. That history had a few tragedies, snakes dying and whatnot, it took time to get the project off the ground. It all ads up to how when where and why. You just have to stand your ground, and believe me I will stand mine....the only difference being I actualy know what I am talking about but you challenge it cause in your mind it just can not be. Why? Cause you say so. You think you know it all since you have spent so much time hunting these snakes...and failing. Ever think you just suck at finding them? I do. Just like the Blaze Goini....you won't let this go. Your new snakes are pure Goini.....because you say so. Something tells me when I catch up with you the words coming out of your mouth will be" I never said this n that" and you will try to weasle your way into convincing me I had it all wrong. Just run your smart mouth and add fuel to the fire.....enjoy your new snakes, but watch what you say about me and mine. Tom Stevens
You think you know it all since you have spent so much time hunting these snakes...and failing. Ever think you just suck at finding them?
Funny that I am finding them. And posting pics with proof.
Once again, you have no idea what you're talking about.
"The only one confused was you,"
Actually Tom I was pretty confused, as where a few other people, on your Goini history. Also if you look at my response to Sean's post, Sean responded with something along the lines of "this pair shows some heavy eastern influence but...".
Veiled threats come out of you every time you talk about these snakes why is that???

Ummm...... Stupid Jerk Now I am really missing Florida. Thanks a bunch.
Seriously though nice finds man. These are really neat in the weird look that they have. Intergrades to the coolest extant. If you keep this up you might be able to get everybody who is bothering you for one a baby.
I still like the last one you found a little better. How far away are the ones you found from the last female. Just a rough guess on miles apart obviously, not where they where from or anything. Unless you want to email me the GPS coordinates

Later Jason
Jason, they were all found in the same county but miles apart. I've found 4 in this county and seen one other dor that Pierson Hill found last year and they range from basic Eastern to lightly blotched like the female I found not too long ago. So you never know what you'll find. The two today obviously had Eastern influence, especially the female, but both are exceptional specimens IMO. Already got people asking me for offspring too!
Good for you man. You put in the time I just hope you don't get beat up on your way to put them on your table at some show
Like I said before the other female you have is one I would like babies from. Can you post pics of all the Getula you have from this region or email me if it would be easier.

Sean, You have certainly put in your time with this project and are very deserving of your success. I know what it takes to accomplish something like what you have done and realize the effort it takes not to mention the cost. I wish you the best of luck with your breeding project and I am sure there will be many interested parties in offspring (my self included!).
You have shown that by creating your own luck and having dogged determination results can be had! Yesterdays finds were a good example of this. After being tired and not having much luck you pressed on and made the great finds. That is what separates the successful from the mediocre!
I appreciate all of the updates and have enjoyed the long conversations as you were returning from the field. Not quite like being there, but the next best thing
Me and the rest of the Kentucky crew might be going to the expo this year. Looks like we might have to pull security duty for you lol! Congrats again! Phil
Thanks for the kind words Jason and Phil! And as you already know Phil, you motivated me to work harder in my search for these kings so Thank You! I very much appreciate all the info I've gotten from you!
Dude you got the "Overalls Mafia" at your back now. You can't be stopped. Yu can just show people the pic of Will with the racers and they will run in fear.

Here's one better Jason. My compadre in arms with a fistfull of kings.

Yours truly with contemporary Hill Jack attire from the WB line.
Seriously, you should ask Sean about the member of our group we refer to as "The X Factor". I think Sean has a very candid shot of our friend in the ANF. Sean, care to share? He's what we call the big gun!
We only visited the expo for a few hours last year. It would be great to meet more of you good kingsnake folks this year if we make it down. Phil
LOL Yeah but the one that showed up on that other forum for fieldherpers with the racers was a gresat one. Gotta love it man.

You mean this one?

Yeah, thats the one! The G' man in his element! He feels totally comfortable in any setting lol! Phil
Guys,
The X-Factor is really something else. He is the most hard-core herper of all. Remember when he stripped naked and swam across the A. river to catch that banded water snake even though he had recently stepped on a nail and had a foot infection? Well, the next day he was violently ill and demanded that we continue the hunt despite his pain and suffering. This photo is of his foot a few days later. I apologize in advance if this photo is deemed inappropriate, but snake hunting can be dangerous and here is what happens when you go without proper footwear. To us this may seem extreme, but to The X-Factor it is just an accepted part of snake hunting that is shrugged off. The guy is like a human walrus that feels no pain. This is a man you want as a friend and not an enemy. Will

Whoa!!!! I thought I was hard core! I lost most of my right index finger to an atrox but that is the nastiest wound I have seen almost ever! I hope he got all healed up and gets some thicker boots! WHOAAA!!! Did he get the snake,LOL!?
Todd Hughes

I wasn't there and hopefully Will and/or Phil will fill the rest of the story in but that river is full of Gators! Greg swam out at dusk and caught the snake. The man is a riot!
And also swallowed quite a bit of river water when he went down backyards into the water while trying to maintain control of the snake in the dark. This was a decent sized river too. Probably at least 100 yds across.
The next morning right after breakfast, and before we were very far into the forest he asked me to pull over. Best move I made all day lol! I would hate to think how funky the van would have been for the rest of the trip. From that point on we had to stop every half hour or so for the rest of the trip so he could expel microbes from his digestive track.
But yeah, he got the snake! Phil
LOL! Sounds like a trooper in every sense of the word!
Todd Hughes
Awesome, looks like you have a nice group going there.
Thanks Aaron!
Oh ya, meant to say that male has some nice striping on his neck. Maybe you will get some cool babies, of course they will all be cool.
Yeah that male does have some striping near the head. And a few oval blotches as well which did not show up in the pics. Should be some interesting looking offspring!

The male alone is a 10/10. Such an interesting pattern.

That's the great thing about Kings in this area. Their pattern is so variable and you just never know what you're going to find. Both are 10s in my book!
Keith, they may have bred already. They were only about five feet apart when found and the female is nice and chunky so we'll see. Also, a Black Racer was under the tin with the male so I assume the king wasn't hungry.
is that those are "goini" they look like LGG to me,and nice ones at that
,but "goini" i just dont see it perhaps some goini OR floridana influence maybe,i suppose the babies will tell the tale as it were good luck with'um,,,,,,,thomas davis
I stated this below somewhere but this pair, especially the female, have Eastern King influence. The male looks like your classic "goini". Either way, Florida Kings do not exist this far north so no influence from them.

Congratulations! I know you've been working hard at it now for years. Were they together, under tin, out, details please.
Thanks! They were both found under tin at the same spot. I lifted two pieces of tin, saw a Black Racer quickly bolt and it got away as I tried to grab it. I looked to my left and the male king was coiled up just sitting there. A couple of feet away was two more pieces of tin. I lifted those and saw the female crawling through the grass underneath. So the pair was found just about 5 feet from each other.
....bizzare coincidence though
That was kind of bizarre. I'll be up in GA on Thursday. *hint hint*
As always... Fantastic work...

Thanks Bill! Yes I still have the emails and read them from time to time. I certainly appreciate all the info. Funny you posted those pics today. I was talking to Horridus yesterday on the phone and we were discussing Rainbows and where to find them.
Nice finds, dude! What's next?
Todd Hughes
Thanks Todd! Well, I got my first Indigo up in Georgia last weekend as well. So other than looking for more kings, I'm going to also focus on Corals, Pines, and Rainbows. It's been a great start so far this year and prime tin flipping hasn't even begun yet. So who knows what's in store in the next couple of months!
