We just got a basilisk about 2 weeks ago. We went to give him a bath today and he swam in the water for a little bit and then drifted to the bottom and stopped breathing. We took him out and sadly confirmed he was dead. Then, he started moving around his eyes and started breathing quite rapidly. Now he is running around, eating, drinking and being normal. Can they play dead?

I have two water dragons, and I think something similar has happened when I put them in the tub. It's shallow enough for them to stand, but one of them stopped swimming and looked as though he stopped breathing. His head was still above the water the whole time, but he just floated there. I was freaked out, and thought he suddenly died or something, but I took him out and a few seconds later (to my relief) he was fine.
I'm not really sure what it was, my geuss was that he swam to an area that the temperature was a little different that caused him to do that, but I'm not sure.
