Help Python Wont Eat

lizard202 Mar 12, 2006 08:33 PM

Hi, I purchased a Blood Python from Petco (had store credit) almost two weeks ago and I am now encountering some problems with it. It hasnt eaten, they said they fed it a week before I bought it, and one of its eyes is damaged. So it hasnt eaten for almost three weeks, it does drink water however and is not aggressive. Ive kept it in a tank w/ aspen chips and a eat pad. Any help would be great. Thanks

First thing you must remember about bloods is that they need a humidity range of at least 60% at all times, if you dont keep this up they will have skin problems.as far as the feeding goes, you have only had it for a short while and it is probably still getting used to its new environment.I would say dont handle it for a week and when you feed it, put it in a seperate box in the dark and just leave it in there with the food (dont leave live food with a snake unattended of course).Just make sure its humidity and heat requirements are met and you should be fine.good luck

Yeah, mine didn't eat for over a month after I got her. Then all of a sudden she's eating 2 small rats a week. Go figure...
